Indian Diaspora organised cycle and car rallies to mark the celebrations
KARIMNAGAR: To commemorate the 75th Independence Day celebrations, “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” and 70 years of Diplomatic relations between India and Germany, the Indian Diaspora in Germany had organised a cycle and car rallies in Berlin on Sunday.
Over 170 bicycles and 60 cars participated in the rally, with more than 350 participants, mostly ex-pats of Indian origin, which witnessed massive support from the Indian Diaspora in Germany. The rally was organized by the “Indian National Days Celebration Committee (INDCC)”, an umbrella organization of 26 Indian Diaspora organizations based in the jurisdiction of the Embassy of India, Berlin, including the German states of Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia.
Flagging off the rally from the Embassy of India, Berlin, on 15th August 2021, Minister for Personal and Community Affairs of India in Germany, Mr Jaideep Singh thanked the Indian Diaspora for their enthusiastic and phenomenal response to the celebrations. The rally was greeted by the Indian community who performed “Dhol Tasha” to further motivate the participants of the rally.
The rally covered major landmarks of Berlin starting from the Embassy of India Berlin, passing through the Victory Column, the iconic Brandenburg Gate, and Potsdamer Platz, to finally end at Berlin Philharmonie, covering a total distance of five kilometres. A lot of enthusiasm was seen in the participants who were waving Indian and German flags and were reciprocated with cheers from bystanders.
The “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” is a series of events being organized by the Government of India to commemorate 75th year of India’s Independence, which will continue till 15 August 2023. The Indian Diaspora organizations have pledged their support on this significant occasion and will continue to support the initiatives of the Government of India.
