IMA doctors appeal people to vote for Etala to save democracy
KARIMNAGAR: Doctors associated with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Telangana state have appealed to the people of the Huzurabad assembly segment to elect former Health Minister Etala Rajender in the ensuing by-elections to uphold human values and integrity.
Talking to newsmen in Jammikunta town on Sunday, IMA national executive committee member Dr Vijayachander Reddy said that the state was shivering with the outbreak of seasonal diseases such as dengue and malaria along with Covid-19 cases, but the government was lethargic in responding to the issue as there was no health minister in the state.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who made tall claims of inspecting the hospitals and review the health situation by taking up the health portfolio, had failed to take any measures to combat the seasonal diseases, he alleged and reminded that Mr Etala Rajender as Health minister had risked his life during the outbreak of deadly virus by visiting the hospitals and taking care of health conditions of patients.
He said that he was responding as an intellectual and appealing to the people of the segment to elect only Etala Rajender in the by-elections to protect democracy and human values. Reminding that Mr Rajender had strived for the development of the constituency on all fronts and was made available always for the upliftment of all sections of society, he charged that the state government had purposefully made him a scapegoat by sacking him.
IMA state Action Committee chairman Dr Ashok Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who claimed in the Assembly that the deadly virus would vanish with Paracetamol tablets and they would not wear facemasks, had confined himself to the farmhouse neglecting the plight of the people. Whereas Mr Etala Rajender had risked his life for the cause of the people suffering from the deadly virus, he added.
He charged that the Chief Minister had failed to fulfil the promise of allocating Rs 1,000 crore to tackle the deadly virus. Following the CM’s negligence of not strengthening the government hospitals, the people were forced to approach private hospitals and coughed out huge amounts and became debt-trapped by selling away their properties including houses and gold etc, he added. He flayed the Chief Minister for not including the treatment of Covid-19 in the Arogyasri health insurance for the benefit of the people.
He also launched a scathing attack against the Chief Minister for not even visiting the flood-ravaged Hyderabad and Warangal cities last year. He flayed the CM for not even visiting the Kondagattu accident site where more than 70 persons were killed when the bus plunged into a gorge. IMA leader from Khagaznagar Dr Srinivas, the doctors from MGM and others were also present.
