Governor stresses long-term solution to prevent floods problem in Warangal

WARANGAL, AUGUST 2, 2023: Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has stressed on the need for long-term solutions to prevent extreme floods and inundation of residential colonies and cause loss to the people.
“We should identify the reasons for frequent flooding of various localities in Warangal and take appropriate measures to prevent such problems. We cannot prevent rains, but we prevent man-made damages and flooding of residential localities”, she pointed out.
The Governor on Wednesday visited the flood-ravaged Warangal and Hanamkonda towns to assess the damages caused to the people of the tri-cities. She inspected the colonies in Jawaharnagar, Nayeemnagar, NTR nagar, Pothannanagar and the breached Badrakali Lake and interacted with the residents.
She appreciated the Red Cross society and other NGOs for their noble gesture to help the flood affected the residents of the town. She also distributed groceries donated by Red Cross Society to the residents. Expressing concern over the sufferings of the people due to floods and inundation of low-lying areas, the Governor appealed to the government to visit each and every area and inspect the damages caused and take measures to rectify them.
The governor said that the government should take measures to avoid the recurrence of the submergence of residential areas due to floods and added that the people should not suffer from floods again and again. Earlier, the Governor was received by Warangal and Hanamkonda Collectors Sikta Patnaik and Pravinya and other officials.
