Good response to NABARD exhibition to market SHG women products in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: There was overwhelming response to the three-day exhibition titled Kala-2021 organised by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to market the products produced by the women self help group members and support in the income generation activities of the womenfolk.

The exhibition was formally inaugurated by Collector K Shashanka on Thursday at the Revenue gardens opposite to the Collectorate in Karimnagar town. Telangana State Cooperative Apex bank  (TSCAB) and DCCB chairman Konduru Ravinder Rao participated in the closing ceremony on Saturday night.

On this occasion, Mr Ravinder Rao visited each and every stall and inspected the products produced by the womenfolk and inquired about its preparation and marketing strategies. He informed the womenfolk to focus on quality, branding and marketing of their products. Besides, he also suggested value addition to the products of the women SHGs and explore the metropolitan market of Hyderabad for more sales. He said that the SHG women should make their presence felt in the market for increased livelihood.

Interestingly, the NABARD, which had launched the organisation of Kala exhibition cum sale of women SHG members’ products since last year of the integrated Karimnagar district, was successful in the promotion of the products prepared by the womenfolk at the exhibition. There was Rs 4.48 lakhs sales of various products during the last three days when compared to Rs 3.75 lakhs sales of products during the last year exhibition.

People mostly the womenfolk have outnumbered the men in visiting the three-day exhibition. There was brisk sale of products such as pickles, handlooms, Karimnagar dairy products, leather products, sanitary napkins, millet biscuits, natural oils and the vegetables grown by adopting the organic farming method. DCCB CEO N Satyanarayana Rao, general manager Sridhar and others were also present at the closing ceremony.

NABARD DDM P Ananth, who was instrumental in organising the exhibition to encourage women economic empowerment by marketing the products produced by the SHGs, said that they would make it mandatory to conduct such exhibition cum sales of SHG women products annually. Thanking the people of the town for encouraging the products produced by the women SHG members, he said that there were good sales of various products, which was the real encouragement of the women groups.
