KARIMNAGAR: Minister for Civil Supplies and BC Welfare Gangula Kamalakar has threatened to stage dharnas and agitations in front of the houses of the BJP party elected representatives including the Union Ministers, MPs and legislators if the Union government fails to announce the procurement of farmers produce in Telangana.
Participating in a massive dharna organized in front of the Collectorate here on Friday demanding the Union government to announce its policy on paddy procurement for the rabi season, the Minister said that the TRS would further intensify their agitations till the Union government procures the paddy produce during the rabi season. Stating that the Union government should procure the farmers produce, he alleged that the BJP government was resorting to anti-farmer policies.
Claiming that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had transformed the agricultural scenario in the state by announcing several welfare schemes to farmers, he said that the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project was taken up only to stop the farmers’ suicides and providing 24×7 power to farm sector.
Mayor Y Sunil Rao said that they would continue their agitations till the Union government procure all the paddy produce in the Telangana state. All the party municipal corporators, ZPTC members, MPPs, sarpanches and others attended the dharna.
Later, the Minister along with the Mayor and their supporters entered into the Collectorate premises on a bullock-cart and submitted a memorandum to Additional Collector GV Shyam Prasad Lal.
