Free blood sugar tests conducted in Karimnagar
World Diabetes day on November 14
KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 13, 2023: On the eve of World Diabetes Day, which would be observed on November 14, a free blood sugar tests camp was conducted at the clinic of senior physician Dr D Raghu Raman at Boiwada locality in Karimnagar town on Monday.
Around 120 patients were screened randomly conducted sugar tests and detected 10 diabetes patients. This Tuesday, November 14, marks World Diabetes day – the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting. Dr Banting and Dr Charles Best co-discovered insulin, a peptide hormone that helps control blood glucose in people with diabetes. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) chose the date in order to shed light on the issues that are relevant to diabetes prevention and bring public and political attention to the disease.
On this occasion, Dr D Raghu Raman said that unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits are adding to the numbers of diabetic patients every day. There is no necessary to have symptoms to identify a diabetic patient, even an asymptomatic person can also have diabetes, he said and appealed to the people to conduct regular health check-ups and check diabetes.
