KARIMNAGAR: Former Health Minister and BJP leader Etala Rajender has successfully completed a walkathon covering a distance of 188 kilometers traversing through 60 villages of the Huzurabad assembly segment as part of his ‘Praja deevena’ padayatra programme which had completed 10th day on Wednesday.
Mr Rajender had launched the padayatra from July 19 onwards to cover the entire assembly segment and meet all sections of society as a prelude to the ensuing by-elections to the Huzurabad assembly segment. It may be mentioned here that Mr Rajender was sacked from the state cabinet on the charges of encroachment of assigned and endowments lands and he was forced to resign to his legislator post.
All along the yatra, he was accorded a warm welcome by all sections of society by welcoming him to the villages by giving ‘harathi’ and hurling flower petals amid drum beats. The youth and womenfolk were in the forefront to welcome and participate in the padayatra in the respective villages. Mr Rajender’s wife Jamuna also joined the padayatra and conducting door to door campaign in the villages by applying tilak to the womenfolk.
On the 10th day of the walkathon, Mr Rajender participated in various villages of Jammikunta mandal. Addressing roadside meetings, Mr Etala alleged that the by-elections to the Huzurabad assembly segment had come only due to the adamant and the dictatorship of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao as his henchmen forced to me resign.
Now, because of my resignation and ensuing by-elections, Mr Chandrashekhar Rao had come out of his farmhouse. “Mr Rao, who had never paid obeisance to Father of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar is now paying floral tributes to his portrait at Pragathi bhavan by organising ‘Dalit bandhu’ meeting”, he stated and reminded that the Dalit intellectuals were opposing the scheme. He charged that the Chief Minister had sold the precious lands in Hyderabad and spending the same in Huzurabad by-elections.
With the regard to the distribution of the second phase of the sheep distribution scheme, he said that it was only recycling and not a new sheep or goat was distributed to the beneficiary. He said that the sheep population would grow only if there was a hatchery like the poultry industry. He said that the Chief Minister who does not go to the office was not coming out only for the votes.
He said that the TRS government was attacking him by deploying over five ministers to the Huzurabad assembly segment. The TRS government was planning to spend any amount and they do not allow me to enter the Assembly, he stated and added the people of the Huzurabad assembly would teach a fitting lesson to the adamant Chief Minister for his autocratic rule. BJP leaders P Sugunakar Rao, Gandra Nalini, Bodige Shobha and others were also present.
