DCC president and former ZP chairman lodges protest against conduct of Farmers day by BRS govt

JAGTIAL, JUNE 3, 2023: District Congress Committee president and former ZP chairman Adluri Laxman Kumar has lodged his protest against the conduct of Farmers Day festivities as part of Telangana state formation decennial celebrations by carrying the paddy bags to load the transport vehicles at a procurement centre Kamalapur village of Dharmapuri mandal on Saturday.

The DCC president along with his supporters arrived at the procurement centres wearing black shawls as a mark of protest against the government for neglecting the plight of the farming community. He interacted with the farmers and flayed the government for delay in the procurement of the paddy produce.

Launching a scathing attack against the government for neglecting the plight of the farmers at the procurement centres, the DCC president ridiculed the BRS government for celebrating the Farmers’ day at Rythu vedikas when the farmers were a worried lot over non-procurement of their produce and threat due to possible rains.

He flayed Minister for Social Welfare Koppula Eshwar for not taking any measures for the procurement of the paddy from his own Dharmapuri assembly segment. Reminding the incident of a farmer dumping the paddy produce in front of the Minister’s camp office in Dharmapuri, he said that the farmers were expressing their ire against the negligent attitude of the government when the rice millers were harassing the farmers by deducting the weight of the paddy produce.

Ridiculing the BRS leaders for celebrating Farmers’ day, he asked what the government had done for the farmers when they lost their precious produce due to hailstorms and rains and the damaged produce was not procured. The government failed to provide compensation of Rs 10,000 per acre to the farmers who have lost their crops due to sudden rains. Congress leaders S Dinesh, K Sudhakar, Simharaju Prasad, R Mogili, V Rajesh, Laxman, Pochaiah, Prashanth and others were also present.
