RAJANNA-SIRCILLA:  Even as the ancient Sri Kaleshwara Muktheeshwara Swamy devasthanam in Kaleshwaram of Mahadevpur mandal in Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district was closed indefinitely following the outbreak of fresh Covid cases and declared it as containment zone, the mandatory Covid norms went for a toss at Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy devasthanam in Vemulawada of Rajanna-Sircilla district on Monday.

Following the auspicious day on Monday, several thousands of devotees had thronged in large numbers to offer prayers at the ancient temple shrine. Incidentally, the mandatory Covid norms of social distancing went for a toss with the arrival of a huge congregation of pilgrims. The majority of the devotees had also seen not wearing the facemasks.

Devotees had formed serpentine queues to offer prayers to the presiding deities at the shrine. However, the residents fear the possible outbreak of Covid with the arrival of hordes of devotees and not following the mandatory Covid norms. The devotees’ arrival would be high even on Tuesday as they would offer prayers to the deity and  ‘Bonalu’ to the Baddi Pochamma temple in the vicinity.
