Cong urge govt to provide reemployment to NREGS field assistants

PEDDAPALLI: The District Congress Committee leaders have urged the state government to provide reemployment to the field assistants working in the effective implementation of the National Rural employment guarantee scheme (NREGS) by renewing their contract and provide the job security.

The Peddapalli DCC leaders led by its president Eerla Komuraiah submitted a memorandum to Collector Dr S Sangeetha Satyanarayana at the Collectorate in Peddapalli town on Thursday and urged her to solve the problems of the 7651 field assistants of NREGS throughout the state. In the memorandum, Mr Komuraiah said that the field assistants were not securing the wages for the last 14 months as the government had removed them from service following their strike.

Due to unemployment, around 46 field assistants had committed suicide in various parts of the state, he stated and urged the government to revive their contract employment and help them successfully implement NREGS. Congress leaders SP Rajaiah Goud, PS Vijay Kumar, Vemula Raju, S Parameshwar, Fayaz, Prashanth and others were also present.
