KARIMNAGAR:  City Congress Committee president Komatireddy Narender Reddy has found fault with the Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police for not invoking Preventive Detection (PD) Act against the persons involved in the diversion of PDS rice and its recycling and also redistributing them to the Civil Supplies department.

He alleged that the police had remained silent and went back on their words of invoking PD Act against the accused persons following the pressures from Minister for Civil Supplies and BC Welfare Gangula Kamalakar as all the accused persons were his henchmen.

Talking to newsmen here on Friday, Mr Narender Reddy demanded that the Minister should own responsibility and resign to his post for not controlling the diversion of PDS rice and its recycling. He demanded the police department to prove its sincerity by invoking PD Act against the persons involved in the diversion of PDS rice without succumbing to any political pressures.

He charged that the diversion and recycling of PDS rice was being done by the TRS leaders in the collusion with the Civil Supplies department officials. Congress leaders Dandi Ravinder, Yanamala Manjula, Korivi Arun, Amer, Guntati Srinivas Reddy, Satyanarayana Reddy and others were also present.
