Former APSRTC chairman writes to CEC to ensure free and fair polls in Huzurabad

Alleges TRS resorting to misuse of official machinery and deleting genuine voters from electoral list
KARIMNAGAR: Former APSRTC chairman Gone Prakash has urged the Chief Election Commissioner to conduct by-elections to the Huzurabad assembly segment as early as possible under the surveillance of central para-military forces.
In a letter addressed to CEC, New Delhi and a copy of which was released to media here on Tuesday, Mr Prakash Rao urged the Election Commission to deploy only the central government employees for the election duties as Presiding officers to ensure free and fair polls. He also sought the deployment of central observers at the micro level for the smooth and fair conduct of elections.
Alleging that the ruling TRS was misusing the official machinery and spending several crores of rupees, he sought an inquiry into the dumping of huge amounts into the Huzurabad assembly segment. He charged that the TRS leaders from Gajwel, Siddipet and Sircilla assembly segments represented by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Minister T Harish Rao and K Taraka Rama Rao respectively have been resorting to illegal entry into the voters list in the segment and deleting the names of supporters of BJP leader Etala Rajender and anti-TRS votes.
Stating that the ruling TRS was resorting to all illegal acts to win the by-elections from Huzurabad segment, he charged that the government officials and police were also transferred at their whims and fancies and deployed their own favourable officials. He charged that the police were also threatening the youth for participating in the election campaign of the BJP candidate and reigning terror.
He demanded the CEC to instruct the chief electoral officer to call for all political parties and social organisations meeting to ensure free and fair elections in Huzurabad segment. He also urged the CEC to keep a close watch on the movement of Ministers into the Huzurabad segment and conduct an inquiry into the removal of genuine voters from the electoral list.
