Coal Ministry assures early completion of Mahanadi railway line for transportation of coal from Talcher blocks

PEDDAPALLI: Union Coal Ministry Additional Secretary Maddirala Nagaraju has said that he would take all measures for the completion of the railway line of the Mahanadi Coal railway limited (MCRL) to help the transportation of the coal from the Talcher coalfields of Odisha state by both the government and private coal companies.

Mr Nagaraju said that he would soon convene a special meeting with the officials of the Railways and Coal Ministry for the early completion of the railway line to help transportation of coal.

He was participating in a review meeting at Bhubaneswar in Odisha state on Tuesday with the officials of Singareni and five other companies which secured coal blocks in Odisha State. On this occasion, he was all praise for the Singareni Collieries Company Limited for its constructive and meticulous planning for the execution and transportation of coal. He said that the coal companies including the government and private had already taken measures for the excavation of coal from Talcher and its transportation.

Reiterating that there was no dearth of funds for the construction of MCRL rail project, he said that he would be meeting the state government officials on Thursday for the early completion of 40 kilometres road from Chhendipada town to Majaka up to Karijanga including Singareni Naini block and other coal companies’ blocks.

The Singareni officials made a powerpoint presentation regarding the progress of Naini and New Patrapada coal block works, coal production, transportation and other topics. Singareni Advisor (Mining) DN Prasad, Executive Director (Coal Movement) J Allywn, Naini Advisor Vijaya Rao, Singareni Odisha General Manager Suresh, DGM (Marketing) Marepalli Venkateshwarlu, Odisha State Steel and Mines Special Secretary Manoj Mishra, MCRL Chairman OP Singh and representatives of Odisha mining corporation limited (OMCL), Nalco, Karnataka power corporation limited (KPCL), Essel Mining and Industries Limited (EMIL) and Vedanta Limited participated in the meeting.
