TRS leaders involved in collecting ‘commissions’

KARIMNAGAR: The BJP Karimnagar district unit leaders have flayed Minister for Civil Supplies and BC Welfare Gangula Kamalakar for doing only politics instead of focussing on the development of his Karimnagar assembly segment.

The BJP district unit team led by its president G Krishna Reddy visited the damaged check-dam and retention wall constructed as part of the Manair River front on the outskirts of Karimnagar town at the cable-stayed bridge site on the shores of Lower Manair Dam on Tuesday. Showing the poor quality works of Manair river Front, the BJP district president alleged that the TRS government was concerned only about collecting ‘commissions’ and neglecting the quality of works.

He charged that the TRS government was siphoning off crores of rupees in the name of Manair river front (MRF) and the Smart city works and also the construction of other check-dams in the district. He said that the check-dam constructed on the shores of LMD reservoir as part of MRF could not withstand the normal release of flood waters from the reservoir and washed away because of poor quality works.

Expressing concern over the poor quality works of the MRF, he demanded that the government should conduct a thorough inquiry into all the works taken up as part of the prestigious project. Following the washing away of the check-dam due to the release of normal flood waters from the reservoir, the BJP leader expressed fear over the quality of the cable-stayed bridge across the river Manair, which was yet to be inaugurated.

He demanded that the government should register a criminal case against the contractor who executed the check-dam as part of the MRF. He suggested that the Minister for Civil Supplies should focus on the conduct of review meetings on the progress of MRF and Smart city works to ensure quality. BJP municipal corporators Kasarla Anand, Peddapalli Jitender, Banda Ramana Reddy, Durishetty Anoop, Kachu Ravi, Jadi Balreddy, BJP district leaders Katkam Lokesh, Somidi Venu and others were also present.
