Bathukamma sarees distribution from Oct 2 onwards

PEDDAPALLI: The Bathukamma festival has been set in the Peddapalli district with the district authorities decided to launch the distribution of the Bathukamma sarees from October 2 onwards by following the Covid-19 norms.
At a video conference with the tahsildar and other mandal level officers on Thursday, Collector Dr Sangeetha Satyanarayana informed the authorities to make all arrangements for the distribution of Bathukamma sarees, the pride of womenfolk of Telangana state from October 2 onwards. She said that all the eligible 2,75,086 womenfolk above 18 years would be given the Bathukamma sarees for the ensuing Bathukamma and Dasara festivals.
She said that they would be distributed sarees measuring 6 meters for the womenfolk below 60 years of age and 9 meters sarees for the women, who crossed 60 years of age. She instructed the authorities to involve all the elected representatives in the distribution of Bathukamma sarees. Additional Collector Laxminarayana, DRDO Sridhar, PD Sunitha, DPM Tirupathi and others were also present.
