Authorities adopted ‘pick and choose’ policy in removing election posters in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 26, 2023: The district authorities are adopting the ‘pick and choose’ policy in the removal of wall posters and graffiti as part of the implementation of Model Code of Conduct in various parts of Karimnagar town.

Though District Election Officer and Collector Dr B Gopi had been instructing the authorities concerned to take up regular drive against the posters and erection of hoardings and erasing the wall writings, the field staffs have turned a blind eye towards the menace.

The election posters were sprang up on the two huge pillars of the cable-stayed bridge on the outskirts of Karimnagar town. Following the instructions of the DEO, the MCK authorities had just ‘acted’ as removal of posters by lightly putting white wash on the posters and ensure that it is visible to the people visiting the cable stayed bridge.

How can the authorities allow defacement of a public property by posters, questioned R Chandra Prabhakar, Lok Satta udyama samstha leader. He demanded the district election authorities to ensure that the model code of conduct was strictly enforced by removing all posters in the town.
