All arrangements made for Sri Rama Navami festivities at Illandakunta temple
KARIMNAGAR: The district authorities are making elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of Sri Ramanavami celebrations at the ancient and historic Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy devasthanam in Illandakunta in Karimnagar district on March 30, 2023.
Accordingly, a review meeting was conducted by Minister for Civil Supplies G Kamalakar along with MLC P Kaushik Reddy, ZP chairperson K Vijaya, Collector RV Karnan, Commissioner of Police L Subbarayudu and others at Illandakunta on Monday.

It is believed that Lord Rama along with Seeta and his brother Laxman visited this village during their14-year vanvas (exile period). It was here that they learnt about the death of Rama’s father, king Dasaratha. So Rama performed ‘shraadha puja’ of his father using the seeds of ‘Illanda’ tree and the village was thus named Illandakunta. It is also believed that the presiding deities at this ancient shrine were installed by Lord Rama and Seeta themselves.
Explaining about the importance of the festival and history of the temple shrine, the Minister said that the Sri Seetha Ramchandra Swamy Brahomotsavams would be held at the temple shrine from March 28 to April 9 for 13 days. He informed the officials to make all arrangements for the smooth conduct of festivities by making arrangements including the serving of food to the devotees on Sri Ramamavami festival.
Collector RV Karnan said that they were making all arrangements for the Sri Rama Navami festivities by erecting barricades in queue lines for darshans. He also said that they would be operating special bus services from various parts of integrated Karimnagar district. They were also allocating separate parking lots to avoid traffic snarls. SC Corporation chairman Banda Srinivas, DCP S Srinivas, Endowments assistant commissioner, local bodies representatives, rice millers and others were also present.
