Ample job opportunities in Semiconductor Industry, says Dr G Krishna Kanth Avalur, Director AMS-OSRAM

Assures to set up a special centre at JITS to train students to secure growing employment opportunities

KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 20, 2024: Dr G Krishna Kanth Avalur, Director AMS-OSRAM, has said that the India pushes to build a strong semiconductor industry and the need for a highly skilled workforce to support the growing ecosystem will continue to increase.

For this, the engineering graduates should be equipped with the necessary skills to cater both to the increasing demand for broad electronics expertise, as well as the niche talent required across the entire semiconductor value chain from design, manufacturing and supply chain, he pointed.

Mr Krishna Kantha delivered a talk on “Recent trends and Challenges in VLSI domain” at Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology and Science (autonomous) for B Tech Electronics and communication engineering students on Saturday. Mr  A .G .Krishna Kanth is currently the Director of Analog Mixed-Signal R&D at AMS OSRAM group. He is an IEEE Senior member and currently the Vice-Chair for IEEE CAS/EDS Hyderabad Chapter.

Stating that the country is focusing on establishing Semiconductor chip fabrication units which are right now in few countries like Taiwan , Singapore, Malaysia etc, he said that these units require large number of VLSI design engineers in the coming days.

Mr Kanth assured of possible collaboration with JITS to train the students and provide job opportunities in this semiconductor industry by opening a special centre. Stressing on the need to nurture a skilled workforce for the semiconductor industry, he emphasized that students should have sound knowledge in the design aspects of various electronic circuits in the domains digital, analog, mixed and RF. He also advised to use open source EDA TOOLS for the same.

JITS chairman Juvvadi Sagar Rao, Secretary and Correspondent J Sumit Sai, principal KS Rao, Dean Academics K Vaishali and others were also present.
