RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: The Vemulawada Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple development struggle committee has staged a massive dharna in front of the Vemulawada temple shrine on Saturday demanding the state government to release the promised Rs 500 crore for the development of the shrine.
BJP senior leader P Sugunakar Rao along with others constituted the struggle committee and launched agitations demanding the government to fulfil its promise of development of ancient and historic Vemulawada temple shrine, which is also called as ‘Dakshin Kashi’.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sugunakar Rao demanded Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to fulfil the promises made by allocating Rs 500 crore immediately for taking up various developmental works in the temple shrine. Demanding the government to provide food to all the devotees visiting the temple shrine, he said that the government should also provide a pension to the Jogini Shivasathulu in the villages.
Flaying the government for neglecting the ancient temple shrine, which was providing the highest income to the endowments department, he demanded the government to allocate huge funds in the ensuing budget and warned of intensifying the agitations. Struggle Committee leaders Lingampalli Shankar, Areddy Raji Reddy, Kancherla Parashuramulu, Pendyala Sai Krishna Reddy, Durgam Maruthi, Bojja Srinivas and others were also present.
