Bandi Sanjay not questioning Smart City irregularities as he was in mulakath with the Minister

Karimnagar Mayor had collected huge commissions from Smart City works as is evident with his palatial bungalow with 11 ACs and two lifts

KARIMNAGAR, MAY 24, 2023: Former APSRTC chairman Gone Prakash Rao has alleged that Karimnagar Additional DCP (law and order) S Srinivas in association with Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar has threatened traders and business community and collected Rs 7 to 10 crore for the conduct of Kalotsavalu in Karimnagar town from September 30 to October 2, 2022, at Ambedkar stadium.

The Additional DCP now promoted as DCP had collected huge funds in the name of the conduct of Kalotsavalu at the behest of the Minister. Reminding that during the 1970s and 1980s, the government used to release funds for the conduct of festivities, he said that the police were never involved in the collection of funds. He asked why the Minister for Civil Supplies, who was having huge properties, could not spend funds for the conduct of Kalotsavalu.

Demanding that the Minister released a white paper on the collections and spending on Kalotsavalu, he said that the Minister had invited film actor Srikanth, TV artists, singers, and artists from Israel and Andaman Nicobar Islands. He said that he would expose video footage and pictures of foreign artists and the TV artists and others going to different farmhouses and hotels if Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao gives time to him.

Talking to newsmen in Karimnagar town on Wednesday, Mr Gone Prakash Rao charged that the Minister was again planning for a cultural bash during the inauguration of a cable-stayed bridge in Karimnagar and resorting to ‘collections’ and inviting ‘qawali’ artists from  Lucknow. Demanding the Minister for funds released for his cultural programmes from the state or central government, he said that he asked the information on expenditure for the construction of a cable-stayed bridge under the RTI Act, but the authorities had failed to provide it.

He flayed Karimnagar MP and BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar for not raising his voice against the irregularities being conducted by the Minister.  Alleging that the BRS leaders had siphoned off over Rs 500 crores of Smart city funds, he ridiculed the BJP MP for not questioning the irregularities in the utilisation of Smart city funds (which are central government funds). The BJP MP’s silence is being observed by the people stating that both the Minister and MP are in ‘mulakhat’, he stated.

He alleged that Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao had collected huge commissions from the Smart City as is evident from his recently constructed palatial bungalow with 11 ACs and two lifts in Karimnagar town. Stating that TS planning board vice chairman B Vinod Kumar had come up from a rich family and he was having Communist ideology, he asked why he was silent when the Mayor had constructed such a huge bungalow in Karimnagar town and added that there was a grapevine stating that the Mayor had purchased and gifted a house for him in the town

Alleging that the Minister was also encouraging the sand mafia in the district, he expressed concern over the degrading values in politics. In the earlier days, politicians lead a simple life and only strived for the welfare of society. Now, the politicians after attaining power were earning several hundreds of crores of rupees. He informed the elected representatives to mend their ways or else he would submit all details with evidence to ED, IT and the Chief Minister.
