Additional Collector inspects implementation of Poshan Abhiyaan scheme
KARIMNAGAR: Additional Collector (local bodies) Garima Agarwal inspected the implementation Poshan Abhiyan, a central government-sponsored programme, as part of the weekly growth monitoring programme at an Anganwadi centre in Burgupalli of Gangadhara mandal on Tuesday (August 30).
As part of the growth monitoring programme, the officials check the weight and height of the children in the age group of 0 to 6 years. Besides, the programme also aimed to reduce anaemia among women and adolescent girls and improve birth weight.
On this occasion, the Additional Collector empowered the mothers to provide nutritional food to the children for their healthy growth. Informing them to utilise the services provided at the Anganwadi centres, she also advised the women, adolescent girls and pregnant to conduct regular tests to check their haemoglobin levels.
She also conducted a ‘baby shower’ (Seemantham) for the pregnant women by distributing them fruits, sweets, bangles etc. Village sarpanch Ramya Mahipal, revenue and medical officials, ACDPO Soundarya, supervisor Ramadevi and others were also present.
