ACB court sentences SI to undergo five years jail term and pay fine of Rs 10,000 in bribery case
KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 22, 2023: The Special Trial Court of SPE and ACB cases in Karimnagar town on Tuesday sentenced a sub-inspector of police to undergo rigorous imprisonment for five years and pay a fine of Rs 10,000 on the charges of accepting bribe from a person.
The ACB sources said that the accused SI Bairam Muralidhar when he was working at Kamareddy police of Nizamabad district in the year 2006 has demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person for doing favour of facilitating the complainant to go to Dubai without implicating him in a kidnapping case which was registered against his son and to file charge sheet to minimize the gravity of the offence against his son in the case.
The complainant Dharma Goud, a resident of Vivekananda colony in Kamareddy town, had migrated to Dubai to work as driver. His son Naresh who was studying degree fell in love with girl of the same locality. The boy eloped with the girl. Immediately, the girl’s father lodged a kidnap case against the boy. Following the news about the case and his son lodged in jail, Dharma Goud returned back to his native village.
During the period, the SI informed Dharma Goud to hand over Rs 6,000 so that he would weaken the case and reduce the punishment to his son. The deal was fixed for the payment of Rs 5,000 as bribe to the SI. The police officer informed the complainant to visit the R&B guest house to hand over the amount.
Accordingly, Dharma Goud went to the guest house and handed over the bribe amount to the SI. The ACP officials, who waylaid, trapped the SI red-handed for taking bribe and conducted the chemical tests. Though, the case was registered in May 2006, the court had pronounced its judgement on Tuesday. The court also issued show cause notices to two persons for wrong witnesses.
