KARIMNAGAR: Thirty candidates remained in the fray for the by-elections to the Huzurabad assembly segment following the withdrawal of 12 contestants on Wednesday, the last date for withdrawal of nominations.

Etala Jamuna, wife of former Minister Etala Rajender, who filed her nomination as independent, Congress rebel Vontela Linga Reddy and others have withdrawn from the contest. Now the elections would be held in two EVMs with only 30 candidates remaining in the fray.

It is likely to be a keen triangular contest between BJP candidate and former Etala Rajender, TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas and Congress candidate Balmoori Venkat Narasinga Rao. The elections would be held on October 30 and the counting of votes on November 2.

Though the electioneering by all the main contesting candidates was going on steadily covering all the villages in the segment, the campaign is likely to reach its peak level after the completion of the Dasara festivities and the arrival of hordes of national and state leaders. All three political parties have chalked out their own strategies to intensify the campaign by luring the voters.
