2K run organised as a prelude to Police Commemoration day celebrations

PEDDAPALLI: As a prelude to the Police commemoration day which would be held on October 21, the Srirampur police have organised a 2K run in the town on Tuesday.
Jaipur ACP Narender had flagged off the run which was started from Srirampur bus stand and converged at RK6 Hanuman temple covering a distance of two kilometres. The sportslovers, youth and the villagers had participated in the 2K run.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Narender said that the police commemoration day is observed on October 21 every year to pay respect to the policemen who were killed by Chinese troops in an ambush at Hot Springs area near Ladakh on October 21, 1959. He said that every year several police personnel were being killed in the hands of terrorists, Maoists and other anti-social elements while discharging their duties.
Recollecting the supreme sacrifices of the police martyrs, he said that they had organised 2K run in memory of the slain police personnel. He said that because of sacrifices made by the police personnel by laying down their life there was peace in the state. He also thanked the people for their active participation in the 2K run. Srirampur inspector Raju, SI Mangilal, municipal chairman Prabhakar, municipal councillor Pudari Kumar and others were also present.
