1694 applicants for 94 liquor shops in Karimnagarm draw of lots on Saturday

Govt earns Rs 33.88 crore only through non-refundable application fee

KARIMNAGAR: A record number of 1694 applicants in the race for the 94 liquor shops in the Karimnagar district for which the draw of lots for selecting the licensee would be held on November 20 (Saturday) at Collectorate auditorium in Karimnagar town.
Accordingly, the district prohibition and excise department authorities had made all arrangements for the conduct of draw of lots at the auditorium. Excise superintendent K Chandrashekhar had informed that the persons, who had applied for the license, should participate in the programme by showing their entry pass. The task force inspector V Chandramohan, SI Chiranjeevi, constable Mohsin and others were also present.
During the excise year from 2019-2021, the department had received 1365 applications for 87 liquor shops. This time, the government had increased seven shops making it a total of 94 shops and a record number of 1694 applications were received till late Thursday, the last date for filing applications. The government earned revenue of Rs 33.88 crore only through application fees, which is non-refundable.
