Telangana state IMA zonal conference in Karimnagar on Ethics in medical practice

KARIMNAGAR: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter has decided to conduct the Telangana state IMA zonal conference in Karimnagar town on Sunday.

The IMA zone comprises north Telangana districts including Medak district with over 6,000 doctors as its members. The zonal conference would be held both in virtual and physical mode following the Covid-19 norms of maintaining social distancing.

The conference would be inaugurated by Satavahana University Vice-Chancellor S Mallesham, Telangana state medical council chairman E Ravindra Reddy, eminent doctor Prathap Reddy would participate along with IMA state leaders such as president D Lava Kumar Reddy, president-elect M Sampath Rao, immediate past president E Vijayender Reddy and others. The valedictory ceremony would be attended by Mayor Y Sunil Rao.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Saturday, Organising committee chairman P Kishan and IMA district president M Vasantha Rao said that the main theme of the conference was to empower the doctors about the importance of ethics in medical practices and following of the Medical Council of India (MCI) guidelines.  They would also discuss about the Family Security Scheme (FSS) and Family Benefit Scheme insurance policies of the IMA.

 

The conference would also discuss how to prevent medico-legal problems and violence against doctors. Recollecting the supreme sacrifices made by the medical fraternity while discharging their duties in treating Covid patients, they urged upon the IMA members to regular pay their premiums for the FSS and FBS to secure financial assistance to the family members.  IMA former state presidents K Shyam Sunder and E Vijayender Reddy, president-elect BN Rao, IMA district secretary P Ramkiran and others were also present.
