KARIMNAGAR:  RTI Activist Mohammed Shahabuddin has urged the district medical and health department to take necessary measures to ensure that all the private hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic centres display signage of rates charged for each type of services provided to the patients in Karimnagar town in particular and district in general.

In a memorandum submitted to the DMHO office and a copy of which was released to the media here on Monday, Mr Shahabuddin said that several private hospitals were not complying with the stipulated rules to display the signage of the doctors with registration number, fee structure of doctors and specialists, timings and other charges for providing various services.

Quoting that the AP Allopathic private medical care establishments (registration and regulation) rules, 2007, he said that the private hospitals should compulsorily display the signage in the local and English language for knowledge and benefit of the patients. He urged the DMHO to depute a special officer to conduct inspection of all the private hospitals to see that there were display of rates and services provided.

He also sought stringent action against the hospitals for not complying with the rule as per the section 16 (offences and penalties) of the 2007 act.
