IMA launches village adoption programme, distributes SSY policies to 20 girl children

KARIMNAGAR: The dream project of Indian Medical Association and adoption of villages as part of “Aao Gaon Chalen” (Let us visit villages) was formally launched in Ramakrishna colony village in Thimmapur mandal in Karimnagar district on Sunday (March 5, 2023).

Though, the project was aimed to adopt villages and provide medical assistance to the villagers by conducting regular medical camps, the doctors of Sanjeevanee nursing home\charitable trust, who had adopted the village as part of IMA call, has went a step ahead and distributed Sukanya Samridhi Yojana (SSY) scheme policy bonds to 20 girl children as part of the International women’s day celebrations.

Dr M Naveen and Dr M Vijaya Lakshmi had made initial payment of Rs 3,000 each for SSY policy and distributed the same to the 20 girl children along with their parents. They also educated them about the importance of saving for the girl child’s future requirement for higher education and other needs. They also empowered the villagers about the importance of educating the girl children and stop child marriages. It may be recalled that Sanjeevanee nursing home had been crusading for the protection of girl child and launched the distribution of SSY policies to the parents and empowering them about the importance of providing higher education for girl children.

As part of the inaugural programme of the village adoption programme, the doctors have conducted a free medical camp. They had conducrted hemoglobin tests to 100 patients and identified 60 patients suffering from anaemia. The RBS was done in 102 patients in which 10 people were detected as diabetic and 12 persons with known diabetic have uncontrolled RBS.

During the ECG monitoring, which was performed on 28 patients, it was found that five patients were having cardiac changes. All the patients identified with various ailments were referred for further investigations.

The consultant doctors who treated the patients include; Dr Shiva Kumar (Psychiatrist), Dr Nikhil Laxman (Physician), Dr Sandhya (Dermatologist), Dr Ravikanth (Paediatrician), Dr Shravan Kurma (ENT) and Dr Priyanka (cardiologist). Village sarpanch Anjaiah and upa-sarpanch Praneeth Reddy and others were also present.
