KARIMNAGAR: Minister for BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar along with ZP chairperson K Vijaya, Collector RV Karnan and others had formally inaugurated the modern CT scan facilities at the government headquarters hospital in Karimnagar town on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the CT scan services would be provided free of cost to the White ration cardholders and they would charge Rs 500 for other patients. Initially, the CT scan centre would function from 9 am to 2 pm and from September 1 onwards it would function in two shifts from 9 am to 2 pm and from 2 pm to 9 pm. For this purpose, a radiologist, a technician and an assistant would be appointed additionally for running the CT scan centre in two shifts, he said. The CT scan machine was set up at a cost of Rs 2.15 crore for the benefit of the patients.
With regard to the KCR kits, he said that the district administration had distributed 29,975 kits. So far, 34,000 deliveries took place at the Mother and Child health centre since its inception from the year 2017 onwards in Karimnagar town. Out of the total deliveries, 10,995 were normal deliveries and the remaining C sections. As part of KCR kits, they were providing financial assistance of Rs 13,000 for a girl child and Rs 12,000 for a boy birth at the hospital along with other needs of the infant.
Stating that the district administration had effectively tackled the Covid outbreak in March 2020, he said that the administration was geared up to tackle the third wave also. He said presently 70 positive cases were being treated at the hospital. He informed the people suffering from any symptoms of Covid to approach the hospital immediately for early treatment. Mayor Y Sunil Rao, ZPTC member P Karuna, MPP Rani, hospital superintendent Dr Ratnamala, RMO Jyothi, radiologist Ravinder and others were also present.
