KARIMNAGAR: The National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of Satavahana University celebrated World Philosophy Day at the University Arts College seminar hall on the university campus in Karimnagar town on November 17, 2022.
The day is celebrated to commemorate the birthday anniversary of Socrates.
Quoting Bertrand Russell, Vice Chancellor Prof S Mallesham said that thinking was a difficult process and some people thought that it was easy to die than think. He said that sciences and social sciences emerged from philosophy over a period of time. Every student should develop a positive philosophy towards life and get the best from such academic events.
Principal of the College, Dr Mohammad Jafar Jari, who presided over the meeting said that philosophy explains how to live in the human world with discipline and how to reach the goal of life. He motivated the students to activate their inner sensors and set the level of external stimulus according to their requirements. Science and technology have benefitted mankind with their innovations leading to an increase in life expectancy but it should be used rationally in a balanced way, he said.
NSS coordinator Dr K Srivani said that UNESCO has directed to celebrate Philosophy Day every year on the third Thursday of November. NSS programme officers D Vijayprakash, Dr Tirupathi and D Vijay Kumar and faculty Prof Sujatha, Science College Principal Dr Jayanthi, Faculty Dr Sarasija, Munawar, Dr Padmavathi, Dr Abrar, Dr Namrata and students of three colleges of the university participated.
