Teachers’ day sans any celebrations in Karimnagar district

KARIMNAGAR: The Teachers day celebrations remained a low-key affair in Karimnagar district on Sunday. Following the pandemic Covid-19 protocols, the felicitations for the best teachers selected by the district education department has been confined to mandal, school and residence of the teachers.

As per the instructions of the DEO, the mandal educational officer would felicitate the best teachers at the mandal, school or at the residence on or before June 8. The MEOs was instructed to collect the felicitation material from the DCEB in Karimnagar town.

Normally, the annual Teachers day felicitations would be held with much pomp and gaiety at the Collectorate conference hall of ZP conference hall in Karimnagar town with the arrival of the district Minister, legislators, MLCs, Collector, and other officials. However, for the first time the felicitations were confined to the mandal level.

In the meantime, the district selection committee had selected the best teachers to be felicitated in their respective mandals and schools include; The headmasters: S Mahender Reddy (Kandugula), K Ravinder (Katnapalli) and Ch Devashenkar (Parlapally). LFHM Shahnaz Sultana (Rajeevnagar, Manakondur).

Besides, the district selection committee had selected another 42 teachers including language pundits, SGTs, School assistants for the best teachers awards. Five teachers including two special officers from KGBVs, four teachers from the Telangana state model schools (TSMS) and 16 private school teachers were also selected for the awards.

Ironically, the Teachers day celebrations were conducted in other parts of the state including Hyderabad, Rajanna-Sircilla, Peddapalli, Huzurabad and other places. Minister for Education P Sabitha Indra Reddy participated in the celebrations in Hyderabad and Minister for Finance T Harish Rao participated in Huzurabad. Even Manthani Congress legislator D Sridhar Babu had felicitated the teachers in Manthani town on Sunday.
