Students of SRR college exposed to central library at Satavahana university

Launch a campaign of DEAR (drop everything and read) to encourage students to read and write

KARIMNAGAR: In order to inculcate the habit of reading, the English department of the SRR government degree college in Karimnagar town has organised a field visit of its UG and PG students to the central library of Satavahana University in Karimnagar town on Saturday.
The students were empowered about the importance of reading books, newspapers, magazines etc to update their knowledge by dropping their cellular phones under the caption of Drop everything and read (DEAR). The students were also educated about the importance of reading books to excel in various competitive examinations and settle in their chosen careers.
Inspired by the exposure to the library and abundant books, the students had enrolled as members and avail books to read at their leisure in their homes. The students were exposed to the availability of various books including their English literature. The students promised to make reading a daily habit in their life and shun mobile phones.
English department head J Uma Maheshwari, senior lecturers Dr S Odelu Kumar, Dr M Shobha Rani, G Ramakrishna, S Rajesh Kumar, Ch Maruthi, K Krishnaiah, Contract faculty member A Chandrashekhar and guest faculty members V Soniya, M Sanjeevam, J Nikhil guided the UG and PG students.
