SRR Government College re-accredited with NAAC ‘A’ grade

KARIMNAGAR:  The SRR Government Arts and Sciences college (autonomous) in Karimnagar town has been re-accredited with an ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

According to SRR college principal Dr K Ramakrishna said that the college secured an ‘A’ grade during re-accreditation in the second cycle approved by the NAAC for its resources, students admissions, courses, infrastructure, laboratories, library, NSS, NCC and other activities. The college is offering several UG and PG courses along with certificate courses. The reaccreditation would be valid till 2027. The principal congratulated the faculty members.

The SRR college was established in 1956 when higher education facilities were non-existent, the then chief minister of Hyderabad state Burgula Ramakrishna Rao and higher education minister Justice Gopal Rao Ekbote’s foresight led to it getting materialised.

The college started with the contributions of philanthropists on a sprawling 26-acre land. Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam made a major contribution of ₹50,000 and the college was named after the presiding deity of the Vemulawada temple.

The college transformed the north Telangana region educationally and produced eminent academicians such as Vishwanatha Satyanarayana, I.V. Chalapathi Rao, B. Madhava Reddy, V. Kondal Rao, K.Y.L. Narasimha Rao.

Along with academic activities, the college played a crucial role in the transformation of the student community on all fronts with the NCC and NSS units since the inception of the college. Several NCC cadets of the college joined the armed forces and are serving the nation. IQAC coordinator S Odelu Kumar, vice principal M Himabindu, Staff club secretary A Srinivas, GCGTA secretary K Surender Reddy, Satish, K Malla Reddy, Purushotham, P Raju, Kishore Kumar, P Muthanna, Shukoor, AO Kama Raju, superintendent Srinivas and others were also present.
