SRR college students visit NPDCL as part of field visit

KARIMNAGAR: Students of SRR Government Arts and Science college in Karimnagar town could realise what ‘seeing is believing’ means in the real sense of the term on Saturday following their visit to the Northern power distribution company limited office and its transformer workshop in Karimnagar town.
The department of Physics had organised the field visit to the NPDCL (operations) office for the benefit of around 43 students of B Sc second-year students as part of the ensuing National Science day celebrations. With the support of NPDCL SE V Gangadhar, the assistant divisional engineer S Anjaiah had educated the students about the different activities taken up in the transformer workshop such as its repairs, functioning etc.
Later, the students were taken to the electricity sub-station in Vavilalapalli and explained about the power supply and distribution network system. The students were formed into eight groups to prepare projects reports on different subjects about their field and subject on electricity, distribution, transformers etc. The students interacted with the electricity officials and secured clarifications on various doubts.
Appreciating the Physics department for organising the educational trip, Principal K Ramakrishna said that the field trips broaden the students’ perspective on the subject. Physics department head B Satyanarayana, faculty members K Ramachandram, S Krishna Prasad, V Kiran Kumar, MA Shukoor, Ch Narsimhlu and others were also present.
