Research scholar from KU wins National Youth award

Award would be presented in New Delhi on August 12

It carries a citation and cash prize of Rs 50,000

 

KARIMNAGAR: Mohammad Azam, a research scholar in English literature from Kakatiya University and social activist from Karimnagar town, has been selected for the prestigious National Youth Award for the year 2017-18.

The award would be presented at a ceremony on August 12 at Vignan bhavan in New Delhi. The Union Ministry of Youth and Sports would present the award. Incidentally, he is the only one selected from Telugu speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The award carries a citation, cash reward of Rs 50,000 and a shawl.

Mr Azam had won accolades for his social service activities such as campaign against the plastic, protection of mother nature from pollution, plantation of trees, water harvesting structures and other social issues. He would be in forefront in conducting awareness programme for the youth and rural masses about the importance of education and enrolment of children into school.

Kakatiya University Vice Chancellor Prof Tatikonda Ramesh, registrar Mallikarjun Reddy, English department head Purushotham, professors Rajeshwar, Latha, Deepa, Jyothi, Meghana Rao, Nirmala and others congratulated Azam for his achievement and bringing reputation to the university.
