NSS girl volunteers clean up shores of LMD reservoir in Karimnagar  

KARIMNAGAR: Volunteers belonging to the National Service Scheme of the Government women’s degree college in Karimnagar town have launched a special drive against the plastic and garbage menace at the picturesque Lower Manair Dam reservoir on the outskirts of Karimnagar town on October 19, 2022, by participating in shramdhan (voluntary labour) to keep the city clean and tidy.

The NSS volunteers led by Programme Officers T Lavanya and D Sujatha took up the cleanliness drive at the LMD reservoir which several hundreds of people visit for morning walks and also for relaxation by the tourists to see the picturesque nature’s beauty. The volunteers removed the plastic and also garbage and shrubs and weeds on the shores of the reservoir. Surprisingly, the volunteers had removed more than several kilograms of garbage comprising of plastic and thorny shrubs and weeds from the reservoir.

The NSS volunteers participated in the shramdhan programme responding to the call given by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the Clean India Campaign 2.0. The girl students actively participated in the programme for the beautification of the shores of the LMD reservoir. Lake Police Outpost SI Suresh was also present.
