National librarians’ day celebrated at SRR college

KARIMNAGAR: National Librarians Day was celebrated at SRR government degree and PG college in Karimnagar town on Thursday to mark the birth anniversary of Shiyali Ramamitra Ranganathan, who is the Father of Library Sciences in India.
Paying floral tributes to the portrait of SR Rangananthan, college principal K Ramakrishna said that the libraries were treasure troves for the aspirations and needs of future generations. Many students who studied in the library were settled in top positions in the country and abroad, he said and informed the students to utilise the library for transforming their career.
College Librarian K Surender explained the role played by SR Ranganathan in strengthening the library movement in the country. On this occasion, a book exhibition was organised for the benefit of the student community. Vice-principal Hima Bindu, faculty members Surender Reddy, Srinivas, Odelu Kumar, T Mahesh, Archana, Uma Maheshwari, Chandraiah, Purushotham, Kiran Kumar and others were also present.
