National Girl child day celebrated at Govt Women’s Degree College in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: On the eve of National Girl Child day, the District Women and Child welfare department and the Government women’s degree college had organised an awareness programme on ‘Beti Bachao – Beti Padao” on the college premises on Monday (January 23, 2023).

Deputy Director (Marketing) and Local Complaint Committee chairperson V Padmavathi stressed on the need to remove inequalities girls face in the Indian society.  She explained the role of parents and society in promoting health and wellbeing of young girls. She also empowered the girls about the importance of education and not to get deviate and spoil their bright career.

Explaining about the importance of the National Gild Child Day, she said that it was celebrated to provide various opportunities to girls, protect their rights, and recognise the hidden talents in them. She said that the child marriages and child workers were hampering the progress of women. Society should raise its voice to put an end to these practices, she added. “Higher education will enable girls to overcome all the challenges”, she said.

District Welfare Officer K Sabitha, Government women’s degree college principal T Sree Lakshmi, GDCO Kruparani, SHE team SI Mani,  DCPO Shantha, Sakhi one stop centre administrator D Lakshmi, legal counselors Sandhya, Anantha and others were also present.
