ECI urged to disqualify contestants for not disclosing details of their costly mobile phones in affidavit
SU JAC leader remains in fray from Karimnagar Assembly segment against the VC and adjunct teacher Vannala Ramesh for protection of university
KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 16, 2023: Penchala Srinivas, Satavahana University JAC leader and contestant from Karimnagar Assembly segment as an independent candidate, has urged the Election Commission of India to disqualify all the contestants from the Karimnagar Assembly segment for not disclosing the details of their branded cellular phones in the affidavits submitted during the filing of nominations.
Stating that the contestants should submit details of mobile phone, email, details of social media accounts, PAN details, pending criminal cases, movable and immovable assets etc, he said that no candidate from the Karimnagar assembly constituency had submitted the details of mobile phone being used in the affidavit.
He stated that the contestants not disclosing the information pertaining the use of branded mobile phones worth several lakhs is a crime and urged the ECI to conduct an inquiry and debar all the contestants for misleading and cheating the EC and declare him as elected unanimously.
Talking to newsmen in Karimnagar town on Thursday, Mr Penchala Srinivas said that he was contesting the Karimnagar Assembly elections as an independent candidate only for the protection of the Satavahana University to provide higher education for the student community and transform their lives. Alleging that the university was plagued with several controversies including a retired faculty member appointed as ‘adjunct teacher’ Vannala Ramesh acting as de facto Vice Chancellor in place of S Mallesham, he charged that the VC in collusion with the adjunct teacher had swindled more than Rs 30 crore of university deposits.
He also alleged that the VC had distanced the basic higher education to the poorer sections of society by converting the MA Telugu, MA English, MSc Botany and MSc Mathematics as self-financing courses. Flaying Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for neglecting the universities, he ridiculed the BRS leaders for using the university grounds for helipad during the electioneering of the CM in Karimnagar assembly segment.
He launched a scathing attack against the TS Planning Board Vice Chairman B Vinod Kumar, a self- proclaimed intellectual of the state, for neglecting the plight of students of Satavahana University in SU. He said that he would motivate to campaign against Vinod Kumar in the ensuing parliament elections and ensure his defeat for neglecting the plight of university and encouraging the de facto VCs culture in the university.
He also urged the people of integrated Karimnagar district to defeat the BRS candidates for bifurcating the integrated Karimnagar district into seven districts and losing its sheen and ancient history.
