KARIMNAGAR: It’s the auspicious month of ‘Ashadam’ and it’s also time for display of devotion and celebrations for a lively festival called ‘Bonalu’ in the Telangana state.
Accordingly, as part of the ongoing ‘bonalu’ festivities throughout the state for various goddesses, the students of Alphores School of Gen Next had celebrated festival amid festive spirit by decorating their school with neem leaves on Friday (July 22). The girl students had come in their best by draping sarees and half-sarees and glittering jewellery and carried ‘bonam’. The boys captivated the gathering as Potharaju and dancing to the rhythmic beats.
Alphores educational institutions chairman V Narender Reddy appreciated the students for their scintillating performances by organising bonalu festival in the school. Explaining about the importance of ‘bonalu’ festival in the Telangana state, he said that the bonalu was the Telangana culture and tradition of offering prayers to Goddesses after fulfilment of vows.
