Awareness can help ward off cancer: Doctors

KARIMNAGAR: Health club of the Government Degree college for women in Karimnagar town organised an awareness programme on World cancer day on Saturday (February 4, 2023) to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment.

Doctors from Omega hospital Dr Amarnath Reddy and Dr Archana Reddy interacted with students and highlighted the importance of the day, the main goal to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer.  “Cancer prevention is action to lower the risk of getting cancer. This can include maintaining a healthy lifestyle, avoiding exposure to known cancer-causing substances and taking medicines or vaccines that can prevent cancer from developing”, they informed.

They also highlighted the barriers that cancer patients face constantly at every turn of life and motivated the students to finish the discrimination against patients based on ethnicity, education, disability and lifestyle. Principal T Sreelakshmi, health club coordinator R Jyothirmayi, NSS programme officer T Lavanya, M Shakuntala, D Sujata, P Aruna and others were also present.
