Villager killed and burnt in Karimnagar district

KARIMNAGAR: In a bizarre incident, a 38-year-old person was brutally killed and reportedly burnt his body by dousing petrol on the outskirts of Vilasagar and Papaiahpalli villages in Jammikunta rural mandal in the wee hours of Monday.

Police sources said Siriseti Santosh (38) of Vilasagar village was working as a farm labourer and also doing sand transportation business. He went out of his house on Sunday morning and was found charred to death with burns on Monday. The villagers, who noticed flames in the fields, rushed to the spot and found the body was burning and alerted the police.
Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana and other officials rushed to the spot and collect all pieces of evidence from the spot. Expressing concern over such heinous crime in the rural areas, he said that they had constituted six special teams to nab the culprits within 24 hours. Already, two persons were in police custody as part of the investigation.
The police are probing whether the victim was killed and later set on fire or he was burnt alive by dousing petrol. The forensic experts also visited the spot and collecting the details from the charred body. The police are also probing all angles including any enmity of the victim with the sand transport business persons or any illicit affair in the village and other issues.
