Seven arrested, ganja seized: Commissioner of Police Subbarayudu warns of registering PD Act cases against drug peddlers
KARIMNAGAR: The Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police Task Force personnel have arrested seven persons and seized three kilograms of ganja worth Rs 90,000, two motorcycles and seven mobile phones from their possession.
Disclosing this to newsmen here on Monday (February 6, 2023), Commissioner of Police L Subbarayudu said that the accused have been identified as Nishani Harikrishna (27), Nishani Saikrishna (22), Dulam Abhiram (19), Bahudur Laxman (19), Md Ali (26), Gampa Govardhan (24) and Chelpur Vilas (22). All are addicts of ganja have decided to earn fast bucks and started smuggling the contraband from neighbouring districts and selling the same in Karimnagar district.

Recently, they had secured a consignment of 20 kgs of ganja and sold 17 kilograms to its customers mostly the youth. The accused were into the trade since last three years. On information, the Task force police personnel have nabbed the accused in different places in the town and seized the contraband weighing three kilograms.
On this occasion, the Commissioner of Police has warned the ganja peddlers of stern action and registration of PD Act. He also informed the people to alert the police if they notice any student in schools or colleges consuming ganja. He called upon the people to support the police to ensure a drug-free Karimnagar district.
