ACP warns of invoking PD Act against ganja smugglers
PEDDAPALLI: The Ramagundam Commissionerate of Police has launched a crusade against the ganja by taking up the anti-drug campaign in entire Commissionerate limits comprising of Peddapalli and Mancherial districts.
Accordingly, the police have intensified their anti-drug campaign and arrested the persons indulging in the smuggling of the contraband and also against the persons involved in selling the ganja and spoiling the youth. They were also keeping close surveillance on the illegal cultivation of ganja in the forests by intensifying their combing operations.
As part of their anti-drug campaign, the Kannepalli police have arrested a person and seized 920 grams of ganja under the Tandoor police station limits of Bellampalli sub-division. Disclosing this to newsmen on Friday, Bellampalli ACP Adla Mahesh said that on credible information about the sale and storage of ganja with D Rajanna (43) in Lingala village under Kannepalli police station limits, SI K Prashanth Reddy along with his team visited the village and nabbed the accused and seized the contraband.
He said that the state police machinery had launched a special drive against the smuggling and consumption of ganja in the state following the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. The ACP said that they would invoke PD Act against the persons encouraging and selling the ganja. He also appealed to the people to inform the police if they notice any consumption of ganja in any part of the district. CI Babu Rao was also present.
