Police seize Rs 38.72 lakhs cash in Huzurabad assembly segment

KARIMNAGAR: As part of the implementation of the model code of conduct to ensure smooth and fair elections in the Huzurabad by-elections, the Commissionerate of police have seized a whopping Rs 38.72 lakhs cash, Rs 3.25 lakh worth liquor (560.85 litres), 935 grams of ganja worth Rs 5,000 and Rs 40,400 worth gelatins and detonators.

Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana said that they had seized all the above as part of their drive to implement a model code of conduct from October 1 to 5 in the Huzurabad assembly segment. The police had ensured the deposit of 74 weapons from the licence holders and bounded over 391 persons in 52 cases. The police had also seized 30 grams of gold worth Rs 1.5 lakhs. The total property seized was Rs 46.13 lakhs.

The CP said that they were taking all measures to ensure smooth and fair elections in the Huzurabad assembly segment and conducting frequent and surprise inspections of vehicles in the segment. They had seized 50 sarees and 40 shirts in Huzurabad and another 27 sarees in Jammikunta town.
