Now, the fake WhatsApp account of Rajanna-Sircilla Collector

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: The cybercriminals created a fake Whatsapp account with the profile picture of district Collector Anuraag Jayanti and sought money from the various sections of society in the Rajanna-Sircilla district.
After coming to know about the impersonation, the Collector issued a press statement on Thursday (September 1, 2022) appealing to the public and officials to not respond to messages from unknown numbers that use Collector’s photo and name. If they receive such messages, the public has been advised to alert the police.
The culprits have used Collector’s profile picture to create a fake WhatsApp ID (234 812 456 2622) for seeking money, the note stated.
It may be recalled that a week ago the culprits created a fake Instagram account with a profile picture of district Superintendent of Police BK Rahul Hegde and sent messages to his friends and other officials seeking money. Immediately, the SP alerted the people not to respond to the messages from the fake Instagram.
The police are on the lookout for the persons who created a WhatsApp account in the name of Collector and an Instagram account in the name of SP and sought money from the people.
