22 companies of central para-military and state forces deployed along with over 2,300 district police forces deployed from other districts for the Huzurabad polling duties
Curtains come down for high-pitch and intense electioneering by Huzurabad by-polls on Wednesday evening
KARIMNAGAR: With the curtains coming down for the by-elections to the Huzurabad assembly segment on Wednesday evening, Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana has instructed all the politicians, party workers, non-locals and other outsiders to leave the Huzurabad assembly segment immediately as part of the implementation of the model code of conduct.
To ensure free and fair elections in the segment, they had deployed two Additional DCPs, 15 ACPs, 65 inspectors, 180 SIs and over 2,000 constabulary staff. A total of 3865 police personnel were deployed for the bandobust duties in Huzurabad segment, which is an all-time high in any by-elections. Besides, they had also deployed 22 companies of central para-military forces and state special police forces in the segment to avoid any untoward incident during the polling.
Giving details about the implementation of the model code of conduct since the issuance of the election notification, he said that they had seized Rs 3.29 crore unaccounted cash, Rs 6.36 lakhs worth liquor, 11.4 kilograms of ganja, Rs 44,000 worth explosives, Rs 2.21 lakh worth sarees and shirts and Rs 10.60 lakh worth gold and silver ornaments.
He also said that they bound over 2,284 persons before the revenue officials and sent a person to jail for creating trouble in Illandakunta mandal. They had also registered a total of 116 model code violations cases in the segment.
