Municipal worker crushed to death under wheels of unidentified vehicle

KARIMNAGAR: In a shocking incident, a municipal contract worker was reportedly crushed to death under the wheels of an unidentified vehicle near Kaman cross roads in Karimnagar town on Friday morning.
Sources said that municipal worker Samudrala Laxmi, who was attending to her duties, was crossing the road when the unidentified vehicle crushed her to death. The body was unrecognisable following the vehicle crushing over her. She resides in Arvindnagar near Kharkhanagada locality in Karimnagar town.
Following the spread of the news, the municipal workers arrived at the spot and staged dharna and rasta roko on the busy Kaman to Kothirampur road causing traffic snarls. Mayor Y Sunil Rao, former Mayor and corporator S Ravinder Singh and others visited the spot and consoled the bereaved family members. The traffic police also rushed to the spot and cleared the traffic snarls
The former Mayor demanded that the Varadhi society to provide a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs to the bereaved family and also urged the Municipal corporation to take measures for providing accidental benefits to the victim’s family.
