Married woman sexually assaulted in Karimnagar, cases registered against six accused

KARIMNAGAR: The Karimnagar Two town police have registered criminal cases against six persons on the charges of sexually assaulting a married woman in Mankammathota locality in Karimnagar town on Sunday.

Disclosing this to newsmen at the police station on Sunday evening, Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana said that Rawthu Muralikrishna (34) hailing from Indiranagar in Karimnagar town had secretly performed a love marriage with a woman hailing from Mulugu district headquarters in the year 2007. The couple was having two children. But, Muralikrishna had kept the marriage issue very secret and did not disclose it to anyone and living separately.

In the year 2017, he married his close relative Divya with all formalities in a traditional manner. After some time, he started harassing her demanding additional dowry. Divya had also registered a case with Women police station in this regard in the year 2018 against Muralikrish and his father Ramachandram. The case is in the trial in court.

Suspecting the character of her husband Muralikrishna, Divya started probing his movements through various sources. She realised that he was staying with another woman in Mankammathota locality. Divya along with her mother Kalavathi, Rajashekhar, Sridhar, Nithin and Md Feroz visited the house where Muralikrishna was staying with another woman and children.

Irked over this, Divya’s brothers caught hold of Muralikrishna in a room and thrashed him black and blue. Later, they sexually assaulted the married woman in another room. The victim had lodged a complaint with Karimnagar Two town police on Sunday.

The police swung into action and rushed to the spot and collected all evidence and registered cases against all the six persons who visited the house and committed offences of thrashing Muralikrishna and sexually assaulting a married woman. The CP said that the victim was  also produced the magistrate. Additional DCP (L&O) S Srinivas, Inspectors Laxmi Babu and Srinivas and others were also present.
