KARIMNAGAR: The Karimnagar Lake police rescued a married woman who wanted to commit suicide by jumping into the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) reservoir on the outskirts of Karimnagar town on Friday.

 

Police sources said that a married woman along with her husband was residing near  the Weekly market area in the town. In the recent past, she was having some disputes with her husband and frequently quarrelling. Unable to bear the agony, the woman decided to commit suicide and reached LMD reservoir.

 

As she was entering the reservoir, the constables on duty noticed her and rushed to the spot and rescued her and shifted her to the Lake police outpost. SI Venkat Reddy summoned her husband and counselled him and sent them back to their houses. With this incident, the Lake police had saved 172 persons from committing in the reservoir since the opening of the outpost in October 2017 onwards.

 

Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy had congratulated the constables for rescuing the woman and announced cash rewards. The LMD reservoir is being manned by Lake police personnel along with around 20 CCTV camera surveillance.
